I have came across this thread https://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/threads/robotic-arm.22400/

Make a device that demonstrates 6 degrees of motion (this is a step toward your robot arm.

Two motions are side to side, two more are forward and back, two more are up and down. Make a mechanical device that does all of this upon command with movement via stepper motors.

I want to start a similar project How many stepper motors will need for this project and what is a specification for it?

Is this a school project? Sounds like it.

A 6-axis robot arm will need 6 motors.
A 3-axis gantry will need 3 motors.

I never worked on a robotics project. I want to make something simple. It will benefit me I can learn a lot by experimenting

I would like to make Robotic ARM that holds a box (Height 9 cm & width 7 cm )from one location and place to another location like shown in picture

I know this is not easy to make so I will try simple

You begin by learning how to design and program one axis.
You need to decide the type of motor to use. Hobby robots use stepper motors. Industrial robots use DC motors.

Get one motor and start programming.
