Hi guys

Today when I tried different speaker in an intercom system, I noticed that there are + and - on some of the speakers I tried.

Do I have to connect + and - properly? Will that make a big different in term of total harmony distortion (THD) ?

No, it just makes a difference when you have multiple speakers (that way you can purposely connect in phase or out of phase). Without the red(+)/black(-), you won't know easily.

 

As GopherT noted speaker polarity is only of concern if you have more than one speaker in the same location. It has no effect on THD (Total Harmonic Distortion). It does affect bass response with multiple speakers.
