A 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit near Ridgecrest Friday night, according to the US Geological Survey.

The quake was felt across San Diego County.

It comes a day after another earthquake rattled the state, centered near Ridgecrest, 150 miles north of Los Angeles. Thursday’s earthquake has produced more than 1,400 aftershocks, scientists said Friday.

My thoughts and best wishes go out to the folks in and around Ridgecrest. I spent time out there three years in a row doing testing at NAWS China Lake. I really liked the place and the people.

The 7.1 was centered near the base.

The USGS has a possible next large (~6) aftershock location heading northwest up the fault.

I've noticed as I've grown older you don't have to much of a choice on natural disasters depending on where you live.
It's either an Earthquake. a Volcano or a Tornado. California is also prone to Wildfires. My state also is very close to a fault zone but I've never experienced one, nor do I want to.
They're not sure it's over yet!

RIDGECREST, Calif. -- The series of earthquakes that struck Southern California rendered Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake not mission-capable.

In a post to the base's Facebook page, Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar said non-essential active duty, drilling reservists, civilian employees and dependents are authorized to evacuate to a radius of within 100 miles of "safe haven" Naval Base Ventura County, near Point Mugu.

A base official told ABC News that the evacuation was not weapons-related; it was ordered due to infrastructure concerns in areas where employees live and work. The official said the public should not be concerned by the evacuation.
