Hi,

This is a simple one. There's a contest going on at work where I need to design an LED SOS flasher (dash dash dash dot dot dot dash dash dash)

I am given an IC 555, 2 resistors, 2 capacitors, 1 LED, 1 ground & 1 power source.

I would say Insufficient resources ! You can make a flasher with what's been given.
A SOS flasher would need more components.

I think you need to review your Morse code. It is important to check all the facts before you begin a design.

 

I would also say at least some kind of logic gates are needed to create such a system. The part list given is not enough as I see it.

 

It could be done with a 556.
