Hello guys,

I want to buy for my project a small ac generator to have a 12VAC to 18VAC per example and power of 10 W

where can I buy this tiny generator .

I tried to make a BLDC motor as a generator by using an ac drill but the result is 3 VAC on 25 rps I think .

so please has anyone an idea about small generator or alternator ?

thank you in advance

Is 1ph or 3 ph required?
Any particular Hz?
You require a P.M. BLDC motor, an AC drill usually has a universal motor and will not generate, at least to any usefull degree.
A stepper motor can also be used to gen AC.

Hello,

The generator is used for supplying an electronic board so it's going to a rectifier after generation .

It's not important to be 3 phase or 1 phase , but the one phase is better for me.

and about the stepper motor can do the job more than the BLDC I've used .

thank you very much

Hello ,

I read about the old dc generator in the car , and it's replaced by a dynamo or alternator to reduce the size and the effiency without the commutator existed in the DC motor.

If you only want 10watts the size difference is going to be minimal.
One of the reasons for the alternator over DC is also sufficient output down to very low rpm, the automobile application rpm control is not constant.

You just need to seek out a 1amp 12vdc DC motor.
The DC output is dependant on rpm so 12v will be at the rated rpm of the motor.
If you want a lower rpm source then opt for a suitable higher voltage motor that you can run at a lower rpm.

Hello Max,

Thank you very much for your fast reply.

Nykolas , yes it's right but it has a low power output , and it's big compared with DC motor.

Hello everyone,

I found an 3 phase ac dynamo 10W.
And I want to do some simulations , to do that I should find the Kt constant and Kv , is it true , is the ac synchronous motor like the bldc motor calculation the constants ?

If it's, what's the method to find this constants ??

thank you

It does not appear to show spec's? Dynamo usually refers to a DC type generator, if AC it is alternator, but they use both terms so it is a little misleading?
