I'm trying to build something pretty similar. but with 3mm LEDs.
should I use a different capacitor/resistor?

I actually didn't understand what components were used in the final solution for this motion-activated LED system.

To restate the problem:

A battery-powered LED comes on when something starts vibrating, stays on for 30 seconds after the vibration stops, then sits consuming zero power until the vibration starts again. Is that it?

I already have 3mm LEDs, CR2032 batteries, and SW18010P vibration switches.
When i move or knock on the vibration switch, the LED almost won't turn on (because the switch is active for only 1ms).

I just want the LED to turn on easily when the system is moving and after some time turn off, so I think making it light up for X seconds after the sensor was activated is a simple solution.

There is a similar product for bicycle wheels which turns a LED on when the wheel is spinning, but I need to build a smaller and lighter system:

Might go back to original post & try the BS170 or other logic level FET solution. The C 555 draws a small current in standby, FET does not

Using BS170 ckt. no changes needed for 3 mm LED. Found a wm white surface mt. LED that operates with 2.8 V & is reasonably bright directly connected to CR2032. Phillips LXH8-PW30, 3W, 700 mA, SN: G19657A, Electronic Goldmine.

The BS170 is not rated as LL, but starts conduction @ 3V ,full on @ 3.4.
A true LL in TO92 pkg. is ZVNL120A, 200V, 180mA, 1.7V gate start, 2.7 V full on @ .4 V D-S.
Red LED might be best choice for reliable operation.
