What are the components required to build a simple remote control project?
The idea is to design and produce a remote that will send a signal to an external box that will then connect to a screen. The screen will be displaying a series flashing words and will stop on one at random, then after a few seconds start the flashing again. The programming of that feature is another matter altogether, and for another person to come up with a solution.
So the remote, either IR or RF (I suppose IR would be best due it being for home use) only needs to have very simple command structure/
What a box/computer that would then carry the signal to the TV? Does this sound feasible?
How easy (or not) does this sound?
I have seen similar projects in amusement arcades and want to build a home project to entertain the family. I don't have much experience at all with this kind of thing so would greatly appreciate any help.
