Hello All,

I just got a new job in an unfamiliar plant with some systems I need to understand quickly. I hope some of you folks can help. I would like to better understand how measuring motor RPMs can be achieved with a proximity sensor/rotational speed monitor/ A/D converter. The layout: The motor has an encoder plate with two holes 180 degrees out form eachother. There is a proximity sensor used to pickup the voids(holes) in the plate. There is a converter scaled for HZ that represent RPM(I need help with this conversion). A 4 to 20 MA is outputed that represents the RPM of the motor. How do you scale each part of this loop????
:(
Thanks

1 Hz is just one cycle (or in this case revolution) per second.

So 60 rpm is 1 revolution per second or in the case of this inversion 1 Hz.

Although this terminology isn't strictly correct, I think its what your getting at.
