Should we all be wearing grounding wrist straps?

I'm sure we can claim that the different values of our product are BETTER and that superiority justifies the 100x price delta.
One way to make it better would be to ensure any incorporated resistor is replaced by a pair of equal-value resistors in parallel, so that the electrons travel symmetrically and are phase-matched to ensure optimum health balance and improvement.

Like the competition. Now we have a benchmark - I'm sure we can claim that the different values of our product are BETTER and that superiority justifies the 100x price delta.
I think I've got it: we'll add value in the form of our patented Electron Monitor(tm): a PIC10F322 + decoupling cap + 3V coin cell + LED (forget the series resistor for the LED, no one needs any of that egghead sh*t anyway, right?), all in a small keyfob-size case attached to the wrist band. The PIC blinks the LED briefly every time one of those healthful electrons slithers up the connecting cable (actually the PIC just blinks the LED at random intervals, but who cares), reassuring the customer he's being well taken care of.

That would add cost. Gotta watch our profit margin, we don't have a lot of wiggle-room here...

My shoes aren't very good at being an insulator.
I've worked on several machines that wouldn't pass QC leakage tests with that much crud on the circuit boards.:p

Back in the day (80's) when the DEC field engineers always wore wrist straps clipped to a convenient ground I don't remember them being particulary healthy. But that might have been because so many smoked. We had to take regular breaks and we all trooped outside for a smoke/bull session. I actually learned a lot by tagging along. Maybe I'll write a paper about that effect.
