Perhaps not as stupid as it first looks?

Not a circuit that I would like to see used, as real-like gates have a degree of analogue behaviour and timing delays that will vary depending on technology. Behaviour is just too hard to predict for my simple brain, and too fast to see on my cheap oscilloscope.

Put and RC between the output of the inverter and the input of the OR and you've got a nice (low) pulse generator.

Yes I got the humour of finding an over-complicated '1' gate to make a famous quote

Just pointing out that this could actually be a real-life circuit, as well as a source of humour.

If you change the OR to AND, it becomes a "parental logic" generator.

I usually draw it with the input 'B' and a noninverting opamp circuit that has a gain of two before going into the logic portion. I would then quip that the amplifier was needed because one be or not one be wasn't well defined.

As far as a real world circuit, yes it can be useful as an edge detector when built out of slow elements, such as transistor RTL types.
