I'm designing an active clamp flyback converter. I wanted to know that if I am selecting a frequency of 100kHz or 500kHz, would it make any difference as to which frequency is selected?

Of course it matters.

But without more details, your question is like "I am buying a car- 20" or 22" wheels?"
No context- no answers.

My doubt is that - Is it necessary to have a high frequency for active clamp converters.... apart from the fact that at higher frequencies reduces the size of the magnetic components and also the size of the overall converter. I wanted to know more on how do we select a particular frequency for active clamp dc dc converters.

It's generally a tradeoff between efficiency, which tends to go down with increase in frequency, and the size and cost of the magnetics.
So you try to find the sweet spot that's a good compromise between the two.
