Schematic Needed For A One Shot Beep Sound

Does anyone have a simple 555 timer schematic for a single shot pleasant beep sound generator?

I have a surround sound recorder but it is standalone and I would like to make a one shot beep sound so I can easily sync video and sound in an editor.

My video has audio, but my surround recorder has better audio and if I can match up a beep in editing, the sound will sync up perfectly with the video. Then I can eliminate the video's audio and use the surround recorder's audio.

A particular Hz frequency would work great, but I need to push a button and it only make the sound once per button press. A beep would be better than a buzzer I think.

Thank you.

You could use a push-button 555 on-shot gating a 555 astable oscillator (running at say about 1kHz).
The 555 generates a square-wave so the sound would be sort of a buzz.
The 555 output should be able to drive a small speaker through a coupling capacitor (to block the DC component) for sufficient amplitude to be readily heard.

Does that sound (pun not intended) that it would work for you?

I'll take a play out of sghioto's handbook, and let the capacitor do the work: a button, capacitor, a bleeder resistor, and an integrated piezo beeper. No matter how long you hold the button, you get only one short beep.

For a more crisp turn-off, add one transistor.

My guess is that there is some SMPTE document with rules about beep frequency and duration. My guess is 1.0 kHz and 0.1 second.

Hi Bob,
Is the beep sound automatically input electrically into the AV recorder, or is it just heard by you [or both] when you push a button?
