Hi everyone.

Trying to repair this Samsung TV that stopped working after +/- 2 3 years, the problem is a 2s on and then black screen.

Checked around and seems to be a common problem.
Capacitors tend to blow up or the inverter transformer fried.

Opened my Samsung tv and the power supply seems in perfect shape even harder the task.

In this foto the marked capacitator doesnt seem as flat as the others not sure if its a start of going bad or just normal.

As a said to me looks preatty ok so i end up without knowing what to do, the next fase is to remove the capacitators and check them all one by one, still before start wasting time in the rong path i wanted to ask if someone could give me some lights on the best route.

I only have a normal multimeter i can't test these on board i guess :( i would love to be sure that the inverter transformer aint the problem also but i dont how to test it.

thank you for your time.

... if the set actually works for a second or two, then it is possible that the malfunction is thermally related somehow. To that end, get a spray can of chill liquid ... whatever it's called ... and try to locate the bad part by spraying/chilling each individual component .... fuses, capacitors ... whatever.
... That thyristor ... can't see it clearly ... TH101? ... looks suspicious ... just a guess though. It seems to be glued to part VA 101 ... a varistor?

Hello,
I had a similar issue with a 50" Samsung plasma tv last year. My set was somewhat different but I had to replace a capacitor similar to c101 or c102.
On my set, the capacitor was arcing internally. I didn't notice it at first until the arc burned through the capacitor case.

I'd check the diodes before removing all the caps since they look ok but really your kind of just winging it with out checking around with a scope. How do you even know that it us the power board causing the problem? Have you Checked the outputs from power board and they are bad? What happens when you unhook the Y & Z boards? Does it still shut down?

maybe this link can help you:

thank you so much for replying, I am not sure what is the problem but since a lot of people said they fixed this kind of problem by changing bad capacitor or inverse transformer I was thinking that could be the same case but maybe not.

Just checked that link and I found my problem there

7.X-Y-Z Sustain Failure category is where my problem is "TV turns on and then shuts down after 2 seconds"

might not be the solution but is something, will look more into it ty.
