I received the program (.EXE file) from an unknown person on the Internet.
How to run it to eliminate viruses possibility?
I intend to have another OS installed in VirtualBox.
But that pretty much slows the processor.

Do you have other, simpler and more effective solutions?

From other forum discussions: Take this program (software with install kit) probably do the calculation you want.
The person who gave it to me has it from not trustworthy sources.

It's a person who only has a few replies on that forum. I did not have a long discussion with him.

Get a second hard drive. Clone your original/main hard drive to the second hard drive. Remove original/main hard drive (just disconnect the power cable), boot from the second hard drive, install the exe, see if it is safe or not.

Are you also in the habit of sticking your tongue on a metal pole in the winter time to see if it sticks?

If I have a single hard drive with two partitions it's okay? A Linux partition and a Windows partition.

If I boot from a USB stick another operating system is fine?

On Laptop I can have a live operating system on a CD.

But I still have a Windows Tablet. Here how do I do? I have not managed to boot from anything external drive.

"there are zero day viruses"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero-day_(computing)
"It has been suggested that a solution of this kind may be out of reach because it is algorithmically impossible in the general case to analyze any arbitrary code to determine...."

Probably not my problem, but it's good to know how to use the Internet.
I think it's a useful knowledge and that's why I want to find out................

And how is "safeness" to be determined?
From my point of view: Run the operating system well and do not "hear" too many your MAIL password.(I believe that the owner of the server that you have the MAIL should know obviously is an HTML encription)

I am a prince of a former Kenyan King. My father was murdered and me and the rest of the family was exiled from the country. Our family still has $500M US dollars still in Kenya but I lake the resources to hire and attorney to secure the funds. The attorney informs me that the cost will be $10,000 US dollars for his services. If you send me the $10,0000, I will split the money with you 50/50. I will send you $250,000,000 as soon as the funds arrive in my account.

The point is. Why are you insisting on perusing a venture that is so dumb and full of risk?
Why do you think it's more logical not to use a program than learning to use it safely?
I think the internet will be the future.
And I want to learn to use..

How is running an unknown program from an unknown source going to teach you about the internet? What it will teach you is what not to do, after it infects your computer and possibly the computers of all of your friends. It is not possible for someone that thinks the internet is the future (when it has already been around for 50+ years now, it is not the future, it is here) to run an unknown application safely. There are lots of protocols that need to be followed to do it perfectly safely.
