Hi all,

Just a quick question, my power supply has a 5 amp fuse and runs at 12v 5 amps, could i put a 3ohm 100w resistor in series with my ciruit to give me 4 amps of current. Im looking to run this circuit continously, would this trigger the fuse?

hi JP,
If your load circuit requires only 4 Amps to operate, it will only draw 4Amps from a 5Amp power supply.
In fact the power supply could be rated at 12V 100Amps and your circuit would still only draw 4Amps.
Is this what you are asking,.?

No, 4A will not blow a 5A fuse.
Fuses come in many different sizes, and with different specifications, but generally fuses will carry their rated current indefinitely but blow at 125% of that rating.
