Rotating lamp wiring issue - no power going to LED bulb

Hi all

Let me start off by saying im very limited in knowledge of building electronic circuits.

I have been working on a project that requires both a motor and an LED bulb which i have ran into difficulty with. I have wired up both parts separately to ensure they work which they do however when i put them into the same circuit the light flashes then goes off. Its as if the motor is drawing all the power leaving not enough for the light source.

This will be a mains powered device consisting of a 4w 220/240v AC motor and a 4w G9 LED bulb.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The LED is intended for 240V?
And you have the motor and bulb connected in parallel to the mains supply?
If yes to both, then what kind of motor is it? Does it have brushes?

hi thanks for the reply it a synchronous turntable motor not sure about brushes tbh it doesnt mention it.

Brushes can generate a lot of interference but small synchronous motors don't have brushes.

You do have them connected in parallel not series?
They should be as below except that there is no solenoid and the battery is the mains.

yeah its exactly like that minus the switch and solenoid. I have the switch on the power cable before the circuit.

Hmmm...
Then I'm stumped.

Take a photo of the arrangement as it is now and post here.
Then connect just the bulb to the mains to make sure it does still work.

Excuse the messy wiring I'm just trying to work it out before doing it all properly.

I have had it wired and proper soldered connections in that configuration already with the same results.

I can confirm the bulb and fitting both work independently of the motor.
