RN42 Bluetooth module

The four shield pads, should they be also welded to the PCB (ground?). I think they should not but since they are shown in the scheme, I am in doubt.

the reason for the shield is to prevent capacitance changes when someone holds the thing. any conductive material near the tuned circuits in the bluetooth will cause slight changes in frequency. the shield provides a "shield" to any effects.
