I saw Ike & Tina Turner live in concert in the early '70s.
It has to be one of the most memorable performances I have witnessed.

 

Never saw her live, but ... wow. I can't say I was huge fan or anything but I could certainly admire and respect her energy and talent even if I didn't care for the genre of her work. Who could take something as perfect as CCR's Proud Mary and make another work of art out of it? Incredible.

I can only wonder how her life might have gone had she never aligned with Ike. He was a pioneer in his own right, and that probably gave her a boost she could have never hoped for any other way, but what a tool.
