Resistors help

They were all wired up kinda funny. There were three drivers in the speaker, and the speaker is an 8 Ohm speaker (no clue what the drivers are though), and all I can remember is that the was a resistor and capacitor in series, not wired like a typical RC filter, and there were 2 inputs and two outputs on the woofer. I believe that the resistors and everything did go up to the tweeter and midrange, but I still think that in a 100 watt speaker, there would be more than 5 watts going to the tweeter and midrange, and even if so, why wouldn't they have any sort of a filter going to the woofer?

My "math" is just a rough guess. Another key thing to remember is that music is far from DC, , the waveforms involved constantly vary from occasionally high peaks to 0 current.

You also have to remember that a speaker's impedance is arbitrarily quoted somewhere near the low end of its response curve, it goes up with frequency due to the inductive nature of the voice coils.

Interesting, I never knew that, but it definitely makes sense. I had always wondered how my woofer only seemed to play bass, I thought maybe it had some sort for internal circuit.I don't know, how, but that is what I had though, I never thought about the fact that the sheer size can make that big of a contribution.
