I would like to reprogram my bread machine using Arduino. There is a person that has already managed to do this, and as a beginner I would please like a breakdown of what he has done.

It is for my wife's birthday. We cannot afford to purchase a dedicated machine to make sour dough bread ( In New Zealand such a machine costs $650).

Any wisdom or advice would be very much appreciated.

 

It seems the link you provide does provide a detailed breakdown of what he has done. If you are unable to understand it, you are unlikely to succeed at your project, sorry to say.

 

lol. I guess what I did not understand, is when he connected the Arduino to the control, what did he mean? Was he connecting it directly to the pins of the motor, sensor etc or did he connect it through the original control board that came with the appliance

Oops, seems it might be SHE. I'm seriously offended by my own presumption.

 

For such a project I’d consider an ESP32 for it’s WIFI capabilities. Using a web interface for HMI, as well as recipes and histograms.

 

I think that a beginner would be better advised to keep it a simple as possible. I'm not sure a bread maker is necessarily enhanced by a web interface.
