Is it possible to repair a basic non inverter microwave oven with a faulty electronic control by replacing the control panel with a simple on / off electro mechanical timer ?

Door safety microswitch included.
I am aware of the capacitor safety issue.

What would be the simplest circuit to run the oven safely?

 

When microwave ovens came out in the 70s they were all mechanical timers.

 

Even today, you can buy uW ovens with mechanical timers!
