Thank you for this detailed diagnosis. This is exactly what my apartment’s dishwasher is going through right now.
It will eventually be able to start a cycle but then get interrupted multiple times (took over 12 hours to complete a Smart Wash).
Only after that wash was I able to select buttons normally. However, after leaving it alone for a few hours, I saw the Smart Wash button begin to flash again. And now my trick of pressing a random sequence of buttons followed by Start/Resume or Cancel/Drain is not working.
Smart Wash, Normal Wash, Heated Dry, Delay Hours, and Cancel/Drain can all flash after trying to press multiple buttons to attempt to get the dishwasher to start or to cancel/drain.
