They've had that design on fork lifts for a while. I've always wondered how much traction the design provides. the fork lifts are designed for perfect flat surfaces and this video shows mostly the same. Could it drive across a gravel parking lot? Could it pull a trailer? Could it climb a steep grade? Could it accelerate fast enough to get out of the way of a fast moving vehicle?

I don't know those answers. The movement caught my eye.

Appears pretty useful. Especially in tight areas. Control will improve with experience.

They used to have a tractor that they used to move big planes. It had a special transmission that applied the right force to each wheel.

I can't recall the name. Maybe one of the pilots here can tell us.

I believe I saw this in Popular Mechanics. I searched for a while, but I can not recall that damn name.

It was all mechanical, i.e., not hydraulic. If I recall the name, I'll yell at you.

Have you seen the toroidal transmissions?
