Can I give single supply voltage of 20 volts to lm358n? Although data sheet says single supply voltage range is from 0 volts to 32 volts, I haven't really given such high voltages to op amps before. I'd like to know if there's no danger here before proceeding.

The manufacturer specifies max supply voltage of 32V and they know more than you. Why question the veracity of their specs?

Are you going to be operating the circuit within the prescribed operating range of the device?

If so, then isn't it reasonable to assume that the manufacturer has a very vested interested in making sure that there is no danger in doing so?

Consider this -- I buy a rope that the manufacturer that has been making a particular type of rope for decades and they state on the package that it has a safe working load of 1000 lb. I've never put more than 200 lb on a rope before. What would you say if I asked you if it is safe to put a load of 500 lb on this rope? Or, looked at another way, if it isn't safe to put a load of 500 lb on that rope, isn't it highly likely that the manufacture would have already been sued into bankruptcy by all of the people previously injured while loading the rope within the manufacturer's specs?

Trust the data sheet. If it says the maximum allowable supply voltage is 32 volts, then 20 volts is obviously OK. If 20 volts were in any way problematic, the data sheet would say so.
