This spare motor stator from an angle grinder is 100% functional , the enamel on the windings is not damaged but the fabric covering has disintigrated as its been in storage for years, should these exposed windings be covered and how, or should i clean it up and not worry about it ?

I have ordered some electrical enamel varnish and I'm guessing the covering is woven glass fibre cloth .

There is no option of just buying a new stator .

 

That is most likely a universal motor, does it have a commutated armature?
A decent coat of winding varnish should do the trick, or worth a try!
