I'm not to educated on the terminology of transformers but I'm looking for a standard US 120V step down to 24Vp-p with a center tap. In other words, it will give a positive 12V and negative 12V with respect to the center tap. It needs to be able to draw at least 2Amps. Thanks for any suggestions for inexpensive transformers!

Are transformers usually that expensive? I was looking for less than $10. I suppose I could try to find a used one and go through all the trouble but I'd rather not...

The problem with transformers is they're made from a lot of wire, copper wire... Copper is quiet expensive as a metal. The higher the amperage required the more the transformer is going to cost because the wires will have to be thicker.
