Hi All,

I'm in the market for a 0-30V, 75A power supply. Any recommendations of good brands, or brands to avoid.

Thanks very much,
FW

I've used the Sorensens before, seemed to work OK. Is there any brand that's regarded superior in quality? Any shoddy brands to avoid?

There are a variety of supplies available. You'd need to be more specific in the your application and needs. For example, how closely does it need to regulate to the set voltage? What amount of ripple can you tolerate? The price increases when these numbers drop. Do you need to control it remotely with a computer? Should it have remote sensing? Do you want analog meters or digital meters? Does it need to be able to vary voltage, or is a constant 30 volts acceptable? How much money are you willing to spend? What voltage(s) does it need to run from?

Since you've stated it should be capable of a little over 2 kW, you're probably going to want to run it from 240 VAC or a three phase circuit.

Added: two more thoughts: if you don't need lab-grade capabilities, take a look at power supplies produced for electroplating. Also, you can sometimes find nice used power supplies on ebay for very good prices.
