Many's the hour I spent at Godbout Electronics down at Oakland Airport in the 70's. Got to know him a bit and Vinny the Bear, too. Actually was accepted a bit by Vinny after my buddy told him I'd designed a TTL CPU that we were using on a scientific project. Pretty high company wandered through that place. Guys like Godbout and others that had shops / meeting places in the Bay Area are among the unsung heroes of the tech revolution that the 70's launched. Being there was like melting into the pages of today's Digikey catalog... stroll, examine, ask, learn, create..

Much sadness at this news. Passing of an era.
