Any recommendations for a quality precision screwdriver set for taking apart small electronics? I'm ready to upgrade from my cheap Chinese precision screwdriver set.

There are a number of options, and some are even from China.

Wiha* (German) makes an excellent range of precision drivers. Some are fixed blade, some use single- or double-ended interchangeable blades, and some are of the 4mm insert bit variety.

Both the interchangeable and insert type offer enhanced portability and cost savings over the fixed handles, but if this is for dedicated bench use fixed blades are clearly superior—unless the cost or increased space requirements are problematic. The downside of the insert type is the collar used to hold the bits since is will prevent use in deep holes, a common necessity.

I have a Wiha set, still in use, well over 40 years old.

Expect to shell out quite a bit for Wiha, it is priced as if you were German.
*as @bertus mentioned.

Wera (German) is another teutonic brand known for premium products and they offer competitive drivers models. Wera tends to be a little less expensive than Wiha in most things. The rest of the information is much the same. The two are very similar, one having an edge in one product and the other in another.

About $100. About $30.00
PB Swiss (Swiss) Exemplary products with real Swiss quality—and real Swiss prices. Probably the overall best products, really amazing—and really salty. Still, it’s one of those “buy one, cry once” things, and you could make it into a family heirloom…

About $70
Klein (American) You might not think of Klein for precision screwdrivers, but they have a few nice offerings at a reasonable price with excellent quality. I can’t find where these are being manufactured but they do some of their manufacturing in the US, and a lot in Taiwan. Nonetheless, it is a good option for cheap, high quality screwdrivers.

They offer fixed and insert bit types in various sets.

Hoto (Chinese) Manufacturer of very well made, mid-priced, stylish tools. They offer a couple of different sets that could be interesting. I own several of their products and can attest to the very nice manufacture and high quality materials. Definitely one to look at.

The “pencil” is a great EDC driver, I usually have on with me. The powered and unpowered sets are both excellent with the powered one surprisingly useful for disassembly and assembly of things with a bunch of little screws in it—and it is not super expensive. The unpowered version has more bits in the kit, and they all have a great selection.

If you need to work on phones, laptops, game consoles, &c—these have all the weird bits you can want.

You can check these all out on Amazon, and you should look at the Japanese Engineer brand as well. Feel free to ask any questions.

I recently rented a tool set to replace the screen on my Macbook. The kit included tools from Weha and Wera, both German. They were excellent. Fit the fasteners perfectly, no stripping whatsoever. There's a Minnesota company selling tools under the brand Wiha. It can get confusing when everyone in the industry uses almost the same name.
