I am designing a pulse generator circuit to simulate a fast transient pulse with frequency content ranging from 1 MHz to 30 MHz. Could anyone recommend any documents or references for such a design?

What do you mean by "fast" -repetition rate, rise and/or fall time?

How do you plan to use the pulses?

What pulse amplitude do you need?

What rise and fall time do you need?

Are you saying that the frequency range (pulse repetition rate) will be from 1 MH to 30 MHz?

the problem you need to address is the specification you want.

the bigger the voltage you want , and the faster the rise time, the harder it is to make a pulse.

what control ability in terms of period do you need ?
simple switch period or controled to the ns , or totaly variable.

what impedance and cable do you want to drive ?

for example, a simple ttl counter chip, say a ls163, gives out a nice pulse .

 

First, to clarify what others have mentioned, what do you mean by "fast"?? Millisecond pulses or Picosecond pulses?? and at what power level?? Micro-watts or milliwatts or Kilowatts??
