I own a bar in a [DELETED -MOD] country where they place a limiter on my amplifier. Basically, all of the speaker wires are spliced together to a wire from a small box that shuts off the amplifier if a certain decibel limit is exceeded. This box cannot be tampered with. This box has an output that connects to the amplifier.

FYI—They limit me to 65db which you cannot hear when there’s 50 people inside talking. Since we are fairly new, the competition and government are calling inspections on us for various things constantly.

I can easily bypass this by connecting a wire straight from the amplifier to the control panel. The limiter still shuts on and off but music plays at the level we like.

We are expecting an inspection soon. The police will come in the middle of the night and remove us from the bar and check our equipment. Normally I could rip the wire from the control panel and everything would work as normal, but I’m not sure I can get to it on time if police show up suddenly.

I’m thinking I need a switch of some kind that has the speaker wire bypass on one channel and the power for the limiter on the other. If I can power the switch remotely, I can turn off the bypass and turn on the limiter with a device that looks like a car lock opener.

The switch must be small and should be hidden.

Can you use a device like this for speaker wire and also electric? Is there a better design you might suggest?

Thanks and I’m looking forward to your answers!
