Yes it is part of the transformer as stated at the beginning of the article.
"The transformer uses a second winding to power the LM317"

This circuit is not what we have suggested and is designed to produce 15 amps.

You stated you required 3 amps.

What was wrong with the circuit I linked to that offers up to 4.5?
Pardon me! your post got missed. Now I have seen that circuit. It's an easy one. I shall (IA) go for it and let you know when completed.

The circuit is complete and it's working fine. Thanks again for your help.

I have used TIP32 as the power transistor coz the other one was bulky. I mounted LM317T, TIP32C and the bridge to a heat sink.

If anyone needs help then I shall be available.
