I'd say that it's the day of the Declaration of Independence that is the most renowned, followed by the Batalla de Puebla, which is most commonly known as Cinco de Mayo ... as you've just mentioned. Believe it or not, the celebrations of Cinco de Mayo are way bigger in the US than in Mexico itself! ...Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s most renowned celebration. And all of this because of this guy: General Ignacio Zaragoza, born in Texas, in the picturesque town of Goliad.
Texas declaration of independence was first issued in this same town.
