Spent a week in Idaho this spring. Loved it. I was eager to go over the Lolo pass, having read Undaunted Courage about the Lewis and Clark expedition. One surprising fact about Idaho: They have something like 3,300 miles of navigable rafting whitewater. You could go every weekend and it would still take years to try most of it. All the roads we took went along rivers and we saw hours and hours of whitewater. Just stunning.

Sorry if it's been addressed here already: What's the best quality image this forum can display? I tried to upload a picture in HEIC but it lost dynamic range and went from gorgeous to meh because it got converted to GIF.

Whatever the best procedure is, it might be useful to put a sticky on the first post to let people know.

Alta Lake near Telluride.

I exported this from (Mac) Photos at maximum jpeg quality, large size. Sad to say it looks like crap here on the forum compared to the original. Mostly a big loss of dynamic range. The exported jpeg looks much better but the forum software seems to degrade it. Anything I can do about that?
