These two Gen-Sets were still in service about seven years ago. The engines are inline eight cylinder Cooper Bessemer's one generator was built by the English electric company and the other by General Electric. They supplied power to the city I live in up until the mid 1950's when power was brought in from the Kemano Hydro Electric generating facility.
They were moved to Sandspit where they supplied power to several small communities up to around 2017. The engines leaked oil and the repairs would be huge and parts were no longer available.

the giant labeller....
the big steel dial had letters and numbers. one would select one at a time and crimp it into a lead strip (reel is on the right side).
handle on the left (behind sign) was used to press the selected character into the lead strip (about 30mm wide and 0.8mm thick).

I don't actually think I have a computer with speakers in the days of XP.
At this exact moment, I am updating an old MSDOS application on MSVC++ 1.52 on Windows XP running under VirtualBox on Ubuntu Budgie Linux.

The compiled MSDOS app runs on DOSBox, also under Ubuntu.

I've heard the XP theme three times today for real.
