Some recent shots. A red shouldered hawk (rare for where I spotted it). It is about 2 feet tall, really large. And, a white breasted nuthatch spotted in a local nature preserve that my wife and I visited recently. We are making the rounds of the various preserves that make up our state’s "birding trail”. The rest of the shots are sandhill cranes from another preserve. We were unity to find about 50 of them in migration.

This morning’s sunrise over the river from our deck. It was cold, but a rushed out to get this because it’s been a while since I‘ve had the chance and I’ve missed many spectacular sunrises.

This was shot on a Canon R with an RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM. While I would normally shoot from a tripod, this morning’s shoot was not planned and I rushed out so as not to miss the color (this was not the peak, but it’s still nice). I shot handheld using the deck’s wooden railing for support.

The exposure was about 2 seconds at f/10 (the diffraction limit for the body and lens). Because my usually editing computer was in the car, I used the Canon iPadOS app and wirelessly transferred the RAW files to Adobe Lightroom for iPad. (I would normally use Lr Classic on a MacBook Pro or Mac Studio). While I didn’t have all my tools, I am happy with this outcome and it reinforces the viability of this R → iPad Lr workflow.

A seasonal door decoration for my Mum. Gail and I were visiting and she likes to see my photos when I drop by. She saw the picture of the door decoration I had made for my door and started to cry.

“I used to have decorations like that. I guess I can’t have them anymore.”
“Like hell you can’t,” I answered.

So I dropped into a store on the way home and picked up some crap to make this crappy door decoration for her!

Here’s my crappy door decoration.
