Peltiers TEC1-12703 vs TEC1-12706

Hello. sorry my english. I´m using peltiers to cool one project. The question is I bought TEC1-12706 because I tought they were more powerful than the TEC1-12703, but in this video the 12703 gets cooler quicker and the final temperature is a lot cooler. Why?

The idea is to put the hot side to a heat sink with coolant -18º C (the drawing says cold water but I´m using coolant that is liquid at -18º C) so the cold side will be very cold and this side cools a heatsink of a radiator and an air flow go through this radiator. The objective is to get this air flow the coolest possible

Thank you

Best regards

It is not clear what you are trying to do.

A TEC is a heat exchanger. Heat is transferred from the cold side to the hot side. In other words, the cold side gets cold and the hot side gets hot (very hot). The efficiency of the TEC depends on the difference in temperature between the hot side and the cold side.

There is a limit to how much temperature difference you can attain.
Besides that, if the hot side gets too hot, the TEC will be destroyed.

Thnaks for your answer. I´m triying to cool an air flow. This is why I am refrigerating the hot side, to get the cold side even cooler and avoid to destroy de peltier

I don’t understand what you mean by “refrigerating” the hot side. What is the temperature of the incoming coolant being used on the hot side? What temperature do you want to reach on the cold side? And soon, we need to know the thermal mass of the object being cooled.

”refrigerating” may be the wrong word to use. What is the word in Spanish you are trying to use?

I´m cooling the hot side with a liquid at -18ºC or 0º fahrenheit, so the cold side will be more cooler. That cold side of the peltier goes to a a PC FAN cooler, the point is to cool the air that goes to the fan cooler

Well I made a first try and with 2 peltiers TEC1-12706 runninf in parallel 12V and around 6,5 amps, the temperature of the air went from 19ºC to 13ºC in 4 minutes, using water at 3ºC

Yes, is not the best setup of the year...

Netx try with coolant at -18ºC

The question is. For thist purpose, wich one wold work better? The TEC1-12706 or the TEC1-12703. I thouhg the TEC1-12706 would be better but the video aparently says the opposite.
