Hi. I have a bench drill from 2001 which I bought 2nd hand. It barely started. The motor is a PSC motor (one capacitor, no centrifugal switch and all the windings look to me like the same thickness). I ordered a new capacitor from AliExpress and the start up speed improved but I found that when I was using one of the three top speeds, I could easily hold the chuck and stall the motor so I think the motor is missing torque.
I have an idea that the capacitor I'm using may well be duff - simply because it was from AliExpress - so I'm thinking about changing it again. Currently it is rated at 6mf. I read that I could uprate it to 8mf and increase the torque, but I'm worried about cooking the windings.
I havé no experience with electrical motors - it's my first foray - so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !
Engine spec: 350W, 230v, 1.5A, 1 phase, 1420 rpm, , 4 poles, class E
Capacitor Spec CBB60, 6mf +/-5%, 450vac, 25/70/-20 Po
