Hi there,

I am just about to complete my PCB and am looking at adding some mounting holes to keep it off the ground.

I am wondering do you just put screws in the holes to keep it of the ground or is there some kind of technical name off the device to do this?

I have been coming across feet and spacers but not quite what i'm looking for.

Its a trivial question but I don't know.

Cheers

hi Link,
It depends on the appearance you want and the application.
Is it a one off for home use or many off for resale.??

You can use M3 screws, washers and nuts.
Plain hollow spacers or M3 threaded spacers.
Self adhesive plastic retainers

EDIT:
Check this link for options.
I prefer the hexagonal, tapped internal thread and threaded stud.

I just use a pieces of dowel (about 3/8" or 9 mm diameter x 3/4" long) attached with small screws or double-backed tape. Gives good clearance and doesn't scratch most surfaces.

There are two types on ebay etc really cheap.
One is the PCB mounting feet, or the one I prefer is the Hex stand-offs, either in plastic or metal.
Max.

If you were using an E3 screw with hex feet for example, would you need any special washers to avoid potential short circuit?
