your help would be really helpful: can I safely tap into the power supply on my pc, (to be able to get rid of a few mains adaptors) I've been using a ide power connector for years to run my pc speakers but with worry.
thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi,

What kind of voltage and current do you want? And do you know just how much power your computer is using? I'd hate to fry a computer because I wanted to eliminate a couple of wall warts.

A-up beenthere!

I want to run a pair of active speakers and a record deck, (I copy quite a lot of my old rock LP's onto CD's) both 12volt but i don't know the current.
Computer is a AMD 64 3800, 1 hard drive, 1 dvdrw and a 19in widescreen monitor. 460watt psu.
Maplin Electronics used to sell a card that clipped in the back, but stopped selling them! it had a small pcb on it with what looked like a power transistor, (no heatsink)

by & thanks

It would probably work fine. You may need a little extra filtering to stop PSU noise from getting into the Turntables Pre-amp.
