Yes should be a white line for Cathode.

This is my interpretation of it so far, I may be wrong with the relay contacts, but I can't see how it gets the Live feed for the Zeners, unless it's through the motor winding?

Q1 is still wrong, does the relay click in or have you measured the voltage?
Hi Dave
Something strange is happening, went to have a go testing it, switched it on then I was getting my meter out then I heard a buzzing sound so switched it off, then I switched on again to see what was it that was buzzing while I was feeling around it started up, held the 2 IR bulbs next to each other and it stopped, pulled them apart and the buzzing started then it started to run
I clipped the IR bulbs next to each other with a gap put a piece of paper in between nothing straight away, after a couple of seconds again it started to buzz then it started up ! .

Ok does the relay click in and then buzzing sound from motor. Measure the voltage across the relay coil when the sensors are blocked.

OR does the relay make the buzzing noise?

Just the relay making the buzzing noise , I can't really find out the pin locations of the relay from underneath on the board, according to the data sheet for the relay it has a set of 2 pins one end and a set of 3 pins the other end, but I don't seem to be able to see that configuration on the board underneath the relay ! .

Hi Dave
Just a bit more info, measured the voltage to the Relay Coil, at first 7.3v then built up to 18v before motor kicking in, prob would of gone up to nearer to 24v if kept meter on.
So it seems that the Relay is ok and the IR is ok , could it be a Cap fault, if so which one would be more likely the culprit ?.
Cheers

There are 3 electrolytic capacitors on the PCB, can you put them on the drawing, also measure the voltages at the junctions of Zeners to the Collector of the transistor.

C1,C5 and C6 all ready on drawing, will measure Zener Diodes when back home .

The IR receiver connections look very wrong.
If the transistor is switching power via the relay, then the IR sensor must be connected in some way to the base of that transistor.

Hi
Thanks for your reply, when I switch it on after about 15 seconds there is a buzzing sound from the relay then it runs ok, put the 2 IT diodes next to each other then it stops, part the IR diodes then again it buzzes and again runs !,
So the conclusion I have come to is, the IR is working ok and the relay is working and the Transistor is working , am thinking it could be a bad Cap !, but to be honest I don’t really know were to take readings from , took a reading across the Relay coils and it started at 8v then built up to 11.11v then the motor kicked in and continued to build up to 15.57v .

Track the voltage back from the relay coil through the Zeners and resistors to see what the voltage is , maybe one the Zeners is breaking down. Use my drawing in post #21.
