Overload control on LM7809 output

A Fuse is does not react as fast as a Current-Limiting-Circuit.
If You depend on a Fuse blowing,
You could "blow" some other component before the Fuse finally blows.
And, replacing Fuses is a pain.

Power-Supplies are quite often more important than the Circuits they are Powering.

When did all regulators start being LDOs? LDO (low drop out) is not even a noun it is an adjective. And 7809 is not an LDO regulator. It's like people started calling all cars "fasts" whether they are fast or not.
Never. It was my mistake because at the beginning I was going to use an LDO. As simple as that.

Do you realize that if you use a 78L09 you get 100 ma current limit (plus thermal) protection free? I see these on one from my nearby distributor for about U.S 10¢ each.
