Chances are it steps through some number of preset patterns that may control which lights light up or possibly create a moving light pattern of some sort. Just a guess though.

Here is a pic for 2 identical devices on the handrail, they don't work. Believe there are 2X4 LEDS on the trnaslucent screen in each. Not sure what the devices are. Dim's are 4 " W X 3 X320230811_165938.jpg

If you use Google Lens with the above picture, you'll get dozens of matches for that exact unit and many different clones. The prices vary widely on units that look identical – this may be a case of "You get what you piad for".

Sorry, there doesn't seem to be a way to kink the search results.

The wiring is missing a 3rd or 4th wire for the data.
The picture is not clear enough to determine if there's more than two wires. I could be wrong. Won't be the first time.

As for the latest picture - we're now discussing something entirely different. We went from a string of lights wrapped around a railing to solar powered walkway lights. My experience with solar lights has revolved both around expired batteries and failed charging systems. I have a bunch of lights in my shop that need batteries. They seem to work with good batteries but I haven't discovered a useful purpose for them thus far.

They are 2 different pieces, one on the left has been resolved thanks to comments rec'd. It's the one on the right that is being attempted now.

What good is a solar light that points up and blinds you instead of pointing down where you are walking?
Cheap solar lights fail soon.
These are motion-detector-activated lights. The ones like it that I have have work quite well and have lasted a lot longer than landscape lights. I think that's mostly because they only stay on a short time after being triggered and so the batteries spend their lives mostly charged instead of mostly discharged. Maybe they're built a little better to begin with, but that's not obvious from the outside.
