I am curious why a mic need so high volts of around 48V of phantom supply! Maybe it gives quality. So I am trying to experiment with electret capsule too.

- Do I get superior quality from electret capsule using phantom supply of 48v instead of bias supply of 9V?
Main question is: Why the XLR wiring does? Eliminates the long wire pickup noises? If yes then I am thinking simple alternative idea: Analog long wire picks hum hiss noise but digital long wire does NOT. So if I placed external sound usb card near a feet of mic then used 2 or 3 meter long wire for usb to PC, the long usb wire won't pick and mix noise. Do I still need XLR system for superior quality/less noise?
