RIO DE JANEIRO — The problem of the suddenly green water in the Olympic diving pool worsened Wednesday as whatever was ailing the pool migrated (albeit in a lighter shade of green) to the nearby pool used for water polo and synchronized swimming. But Olympic officials said that after extensive tests, they had finally pinpointed the reason: a chemical imbalance caused by too many people using the water.
...
The Rio Games have had their share of water-related troubles, particularly at the rowing and sailing venues, wherethe water is contaminated by a toxic stew of bacteria and pathogens.

A visit Wednesday afternoon showed that the diving pool was still a fairly dark shade of green while the pool for water polo and synchronized swimming was somewhat lighter, more of a sea glass green. Officials said the alkalinity levels were already improving.
Don't people shower in RIO before jumping in the pool?

It's funny that Golf made it back I to the Olympics after 112 years - as the participation rates of golf in the US have been falling since it peaked in 2006.

Nike just announced a reduced product line for golf because of the epic drop in popularity. We've had at least two golf courses in our area converted to housing developments in the last two years. Most millennials think golf us stupid (but Pokemon Go is not?). The 30-somethings that want to do some sport seem to mountain bike, run or go to the gym rather than spend 4 to 6 hours away from the family to golf.

That is a great movie. Of course it is terribly racist. I fear it will be on the banned list for promoting paedophelia as well
I don't think the 'movie' had much racist intent as it subtly undermines a straightforward racist attitude. It ultimately moves from a man vs men action saga to a story of human feelings instead of both sides as objects in a deadly game.

Now the bottom line just like in Die Hard is that the 'hero' needs a good pair of shoes.

And, one of the greatest Olympic dynasties falls, and then turns to sour grapes - actions that can completely cancel some people's memories of the years of great play. People tend to remember the last things they hear, not the history. Unfortunate decisions - not how I want to remember the team.

Hope Solo - Team USA goalie.
"(I think) we played a bunch of cowards," Solo told reporters after the match.
"You saw us give everything that we had today. Unfortunately the better team didn't win."

Points for not pretending to be OK about losing. She's never been one to mix her words or actions when upset.

True about not mincing words but, my opinion is that she can stay home if she doesn't want to act like an Olympian and act according to the Olympic spirit stated in the opening ceremony.
