NPN Infrared Phototransistor as Light Sensor

Hey All,

Was wondering if an Infrared Phototansistor can be used as a light sensor in place of an LDR? If so, can you direct me to a circuit diagram to follow?

Your andwer is in the link that Raymond Genovese provided in post #2.

On that page scroll down to the diagram showing a photo transistor connected to a resistor. When light falls on the transistor, the voltage on the emitter increases. No other parts are needed -the operation is very similar to that of an LDR.
