Hey. I am experimenting with arduinos and Xbees and i have found this guy on youtube :

. I am trying to do the same excersise but I keep getting error when I try to program the arduino while it is connected to Xbee module. I am getting this error :
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00
As soon as I unplug the rx and tx wires from arduino or disconnect Xbee module comletely, I am able to program it. Is there any reason why it is not working ?

 

The Arduino Uno uses TX/RX (GPIO 0/1) with the IDE and USB, when connected and I believe that is why you get the error. The fix is simple, just used softwareserial and two other GPIO lines.
