I want to believe the conclusions of a new paper that says octopuses are actually space aliens whose frozen eggs first came to Earth aboard an icy meteor. I want to believe that humans, too, are aliens — the final descendants of an extraterrestrial virus that crashed to Earth 540 million years ago and sent evolution spiraling into wild new directions. I want to believe that the universe is one giant biosphere, tossing the same building blocks of life from planet to planet in a never-ending game of cosmic hot potato.

There has been some theory that biological organisms originated from outside the earth and they were brought into the environment by comets which also contain a lot of water.

The infant earth looked a lot like Hawaii with molten rock covering the surface that now hosts life. So exactly how life could originate and evolve from a such hostile environment is quite a mystery.

Glen Holland, Same mystery how life exists in the ocean depths living around volcanic vents in the mid ocean rifts. There are a host of strange critters living in very hot waters doing quite well apparently.
No one said anything about life being around while the earth was supposed to be in a molten state.
If life was brought here by comets that just raises another question about how did life originate on a comet and travel here (and survive the entry.)
My bet is on life originating here in the oceans that formed?? after the earth cooled somewhat.
I don't even want to go near the discussion about a supernatural creation.
