Guitar strings don’t fit on the guitar when they break and they do break often.

So now I have another good reason for saving all my old strings.

The last time I checked, guitar strings cost a whole lot more than even nichrome wire. There is also fairly cheap stainless steel wire used for lashing things, which is also available. The qualityof wire used should depend on how long you need the setup to work. For a one-off project almost any kind can be used. Production tooling will demand better.
Fine, I figure at this point the thread starter can figure it out and endless post are not going to change anything.

There you have it. Now just find some wire and experiment a little. :)

Nichrome is actually pretty nice and some guitar wires may actually be similar stainless steel allow. Nichrome is nice because the resistance is about 10x higher than low carbon steel or iron which means 100x higher resistance of copper wire (using round numbers). Using the right small diameter nichrome the heat stays in the heater wire and the copper will stay cool.

I am aware of that, however, I was describing a property of the material that I had suggested, and so I was relating that information for those who may not have been aware of it. It was mentioned previously that nichrome expanded, while I was describig a different material thatsome may not have been so familiar with.
