Newbie vs Technics SC-CH7

Hi all - I am trying to fix a Technics SC-CH7 mini hifi system, which is refusing to turn on. Or, more accurately, is turning itself off the instant you turn it on.

I've read a few posts on the forum, and have the tuner component (ST-CH7L) opened up. Looks like resistor R704 has been hot at some point (discolouration to the PCB) - and one post I found - sorry, can't remember which one right now - identified this very resistor as the one to check for power-on issues. So I thought I could do worse than try to replace this component and see if that cures it.

After downloading the service manual I've identified the part as a 1/2W, 150 Ohm resistor, ref #ERDS1FVJ151T - a part flagged in the manual as needing to be replaced strictly like-for-like. So I've Googled this part but have only turned up one source - they're in the US and don't ship international.

I only want one of these resistors - surely not expensive, but where can I get one from? As per the title I'm new to this game so have no feel for retail outlets for this kind of gear ... but thought it would be fun to accomplish a DIY repair if it's feasible(?).

Can anyone point me in the right direction please - FWIW I'm based in East Yorkshire, in the north of England ...

Thanks! Steve

Welcome to AAC!

Post the manual and a picture of the resistor in question. We can usually tell its type (carbon comp, metal film, carbon film) from a well-focused picture.
